A study abroad program for Israeli students in the United States is about to start.
The US Department of Education says in a statement on Thursday that it will host two online classes on May 22, which will teach students to prepare for their Israeli studies abroad program.
It says it plans to expand the program to eight universities in Israel, as well as five international schools.
In a statement, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said that “the Department of State’s new study abroad initiative is designed to support the work of students and scholars in Israel as they prepare for Israeli studies overseas.”
The American embassy in Tel Aviv says it is planning to offer the Israeli students and their families access to the online courses, which are available to the public for free.
The American Embassy says it hopes to open a full-time study abroad coordinator in Israel in 2018.
